BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania. – The Patriot League was shortlisted for three 2021 College Sports Media Awards when the nominees were announced Friday by The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
The Patriot League is a finalist for Outstanding Live Game Production, Outstanding Special Feature and Exceptional fan engagement in short version categories within the Collegiate Conferences and Governing Bodies Division.
“It has been a lesson in humility to be honored by SVG College over the past four years, but this year is very special,” Johnson said. “It took a lot of extra work and dedication to put us in a position to have three productions recognized as finalists this year. Special thanks to Jack Hurlbut at Army West Point, Doug Birdsong and Cole Cloonan in Bucknell, and DJ Sixsmith, who devoted countless hours to research and interviewing for the track and field production. “
The Patriot League on ESPN’s coverage of the 2021 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships has been nominated for Outstanding production of live games as well as nominees from Pac-12 and the West Coast Conference (WCC). This is the second time in three years that a live production has been named a finalist, having won the honor for covering the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship. multimedia Jimmy Johnson served as executive director and producer with Jack Hurlbut of Army West Point as technical director. DJ Sixsmith provided the acting with a production team including Josh Cook, Joe Schlip and Michael Colletti.
Johnson edited and produced the Outstanding special feature finalist “Rick Mottram Builds Bright Future After Bucknell” with help from Bucknell’s Doug Birdsong and Cole Cloonan. The feature is in competition with nominees from Big East, Big Sky, Pac-12 and WCC. LOOK NOW

The Patriot League has been named a finalist in at least one category in each of the past four years. In 2019, the PLN was named a finalist in three categories and won the Outstanding production of live games awards for the 2019 Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships.
SVG and NACDA determined the finalists. Winners will be selected by a jury and announced at the 13th annual SVG College Sports Media Awards. in association with NACDA in a virtual ceremony hosted on SVG’s YouTube channel on June 23 at 7 p.m. ET.
